Privacy policy
Last updated: November 3, 2026
TRY Enviro Technologies LLC ("TRY Enviro", "we", "us") is a water and wastewater consulting and training company based in Virginia, USA. This policy explains what personal information we collect through this website, why we collect it, who we share it with, how long we keep it, and the choices you have. For cookies and the other technical data the site handles, see our Cookies and data collection page.
Who we are and how to reach us
TRY Enviro Technologies LLC, Virginia, USA. Email: info@tryetech.com. Telephone: 804-699-0612. Write to us at any time with questions or requests about your information.
What we collect
- Account information: your name, email address, organisation (optional) and a password. We store only a one-way scrambled form (a hash) of your password. We cannot read it.
- Purchase information: what you bought, the amount, the date, the order status and a Stripe payment reference. We do not receive or store your card number. Card details are entered on Stripe's secure page.
- Course access information: which courses you own, which free trial unit was assigned to you, and when you last signed in.
- Enquiries: the name, email, organisation, topic and message you send through the contact or Test My IDEA forms.
- Technical information: your IP address is used briefly to limit repeated sign-in or form attempts (kept for no more than one hour). Our hosting provider also keeps standard server logs.
- Page-view counts: we count how many times each page is opened, per day, and the website the visitor came from (for example google.com). This uses no cookies and stores no IP address, device identifier or other personal information. Visits by bots and by our own administrators are not counted.
- TRY Academy records (see the Academy section below): learning progress, study time, practice and exam results, certificates, and the organisation you belong to, if any.
- Administrator records: when staff change something in the admin area (for example a refund or an access change), we keep a note of who did it and when.
Why we use it, and our basis for doing so
- To create and run your account, give you access to courses and webinars you are entitled to, and keep your purchases in one place (to carry out our agreement with you).
- To take payment, send receipts, process refunds and keep accounting records (to carry out our agreement with you and to meet legal and tax duties).
- To answer your enquiries and send you the service messages you need, such as a password reset link or a receipt (our legitimate interest in running the business, and your request).
- To keep the site secure and prevent abuse, for example blocking repeated sign-in attempts (our legitimate interest).
- To improve the site and our training. We do not run advertising trackers or sell personal information.
We do not send marketing email unless you ask us to. If we start a mailing list, signing up will be a separate, optional step and every message will include a way to unsubscribe.
Who we share it with
We share information only with the service providers that help us run the site, and only what each one needs.
- Stripe, Inc. processes payments. Stripe's own privacy policy applies to the details you give it.
- Our web hosting and email provider (Hostinger) stores the site, its database and our email.
- Your employer or training sponsor, if it enrolled you in TRY Academy through an organisation account. See the Academy section below.
- YouTube (Google) or Vimeo, only if you open a webinar page that contains a video from one of them. See our Cookies and data collection page.
- Professional advisers (for example our accountant or lawyer) and authorities, where the law requires it.
We do not sell your personal information and we do not share it for targeted advertising or profiling.
How long we keep it
- Account information: for as long as your account is open. If you ask us to delete your account we will do so within 30 days, except for the records described next. Academy accounts that have not been used for three years may be closed after we email you.
- Academy progress, study-time and certificate records: for as long as your account is open. Certificate verification records (name, course, date) may be kept so that a certificate you were issued can still be verified, unless you ask us to delete them.
- Purchase and accounting records: we keep these for as long as tax and accounting rules require, normally seven years.
- Enquiries: up to three years after the last message, unless you become a customer.
- Sign-in and form rate-limit records: no more than one hour.
- Admin activity notes: up to three years.
Your choices and rights
You can ask us to show you the personal information we hold about you, correct it, delete it, or give you a copy you can take elsewhere. You can also ask us to stop using it for a purpose you object to. To make a request, email info@tryetech.com from the address on your account, or use the contact form. We may need to confirm who you are first, and we will reply within 30 days. If you live in Virginia or another state with a privacy law, you have the rights that law gives you, and we will honour reasonable requests whether or not the law strictly applies to our business. If you are unhappy with our answer you can appeal by replying to us, and you may also contact your state attorney general.
You can change your name and organisation, and change your password, from your account page.
How we protect it
Pages are served over HTTPS. Passwords are stored as one-way hashes. Sign-in cookies are marked secure and cannot be read by page scripts. Forms are protected against forged requests, and repeated failed sign-ins are blocked for a time. Uploaded or edited page content is cleaned of scripts. Admin access is limited to named administrators and every administrator action is logged. Our test website is kept separate from the live website and never contains real customer data. We follow a written incident response plan.
No system is perfectly secure, and we cannot promise that information will never be accessed without authorisation.
If there is a data breach
If we discover that personal information we hold has been accessed or taken without authorisation, we will act quickly to contain it and investigate. Where the law requires it, including the breach notification duties in Virginia Code section 18.2-186.6 and similar laws in other states, we will notify affected individuals and the relevant authorities without unreasonable delay, and we will tell you what happened, what information was involved, what we are doing and what you can do to protect yourself. We will also notify organisation administrators whose learners are affected. This paragraph describes our practice and is not legal advice.
Children
This site, TRY Academy and our courses are meant for adults and working professionals. You must be at least 18 to create an account. The site is not directed to anyone under 16, and we do not knowingly collect information from children. If you believe a child has given us information, tell us and we will delete it.
Where information is stored
Our provider's servers may be located outside Virginia, including outside the United States. We choose providers that protect information to a reasonable standard.
TRY Academy
TRY Academy at www.tryetech.com/academy is our online learning platform. It is a separate application with its own login, its own database, and its own accounts, progress records, certificates and Stripe checkout. Signing in on this website does not sign you in to the Academy, and the Academy does not share its records with this site's contact form or page-view counts.
In the Academy we keep your name, email, password hash, optional job role and organisation, which courses you can open, your progress and study time, practice and exam scores, certificates, and the security log entries described above. Payments are handled by Stripe, so we do not see or store full card numbers.
Organisation accounts. If your employer, utility or training sponsor enrolled you, or you joined using your work email address, its Academy administrators and supervisors can see your name, email, assigned courses, progress, study time, scores and certificates, and can assign you training and send you reminders. They cannot see your password. Ask your administrator what your organisation does with this information. Academy staff can see account and progress records only to run the service, provide support and investigate problems.
You can ask to see, correct, export or delete your Academy data using the steps above. Deleting your account removes your progress and study records. Progress also lives in your browser while you study, so clearing your browser data removes the local copy.
AI-assisted content
Much of our content is prepared with AI tools. We do not use your personal information to train AI models, and we do not give AI tools your account or payment data. See our Disclaimer for the limits of AI-assisted content.
Changes to this policy
When we change this policy we will change the date at the top. If a change is significant we will also tell account holders by email.
