AI-assisted content
Course lessons, study guides, practice questions and their explanations, slides, cheat sheets, webinars and handouts, knowledge-center articles, calculators, quizzes and other material on this site and in our downloads are prepared with the help of AI tools. The AI-assisted nature of the material is stated again inside our courses, slide decks and PDFs.
AI tools can produce wrong numbers, wrong units, outdated rules, invented or misquoted references, and explanations that sound right but are not. We aim to check our material, but we cannot promise it is accurate, complete or current. We ask every learner and reader to double-check their work, including formulas, calculations, limits, regulatory requirements, chemical safety information and exam content, against official sources before relying on it. Official sources include the current text of the regulations (for example the Virginia Department of Professional and Occupational Regulation, the Virginia Department of Health, the Department of Environmental Quality and the US EPA), your facility's permit and standard operating procedures, the exam provider's current candidate handbook and formula sheet, equipment manufacturers' documents, and the official Safety Data Sheet (SDS) for any chemical.

Safety and operations
Water and wastewater work involves serious hazards, including chemicals, confined spaces, electricity, moving equipment, pathogens and pressure. Our training is for study. It is not hands-on or safety training, and it must not be used to make operating, treatment, compliance or safety decisions. Follow your employer's procedures, your operator in charge, the manufacturer's instructions and the SDS. In an emergency, call 911 and your own emergency contacts. Do not use this site.
Training, exams and continuing education
Our operator courses are independent study aids. They are not affiliated with, or endorsed by, the Virginia Department of Professional and Occupational Regulation (DPOR), the Virginia Board for Waterworks and Wastewater Works Operators, the Virginia Department of Health (VDH), the Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ), WPI (formerly ABC) or PSI. Our practice questions are original and are not actual exam questions.
We do not guarantee that you will pass any exam, be granted or keep a licence, be hired or be promoted, and we make no pass-rate or "money-back pass" promise. Your results depend on your own effort, experience and circumstances. Any earlier statement elsewhere that suggests a guaranteed result does not apply.
TRY Academy is run by TRY Enviro Technologies LLC. Its completion certificates show that you finished a course or module with us. They are not licences, are not issued by any licensing board, and do not by themselves prove competence.
Certificates record completion; CEU/CPE credit is subject to approval by your licensing board or employer. Independent training, not affiliated with or endorsed by any licensing board or standards body. We do not claim CEU or CPE credit for any course. Unless a page says in writing that the Board or another named body has approved a session, treat it as not approved for credit. Whether any session counts toward your renewal is decided by your licensing Board or employer. Check with them before you rely on it.
Calculators, quizzes and tools
Calculators, converters, quizzes, sample questions and similar tools give estimates for learning. They may contain errors and are not suitable for design, permitting, compliance reporting or operational control. Check results independently.
Consulting, testing and treatability work
Consulting, testing, treatability and similar services are provided only under a separate written agreement, proposal or quote, and are limited to the scope stated in it. Descriptions of services, examples, case studies and past results on this site are illustrative. Results vary with each water, system and site, and we do not promise a particular outcome, treatment result or regulatory decision.
Equipment and marketplace items
Product descriptions and specifications come from us or from manufacturers and may contain errors or change. Equipment is offered by quote. Suitability for your application, installation, sizing, permitting and operation are your responsibility unless a signed agreement says otherwise. Manufacturers' own warranties apply where they exist. We make no other warranty.
Regulations change
Drinking water and wastewater rules change often, including those for lead and copper, PFAS and nutrients. Material on this site shows the position when it was prepared. Always confirm the current requirements with the regulator.
Links and third-party content
Links, videos and tools from other organisations, such as government agencies, YouTube, Vimeo and Stripe, are provided for convenience. We do not control them, and a link is not an endorsement. Their own terms and privacy policies apply.
Business status
Statements about our business, such as woman-owned or minority-owned, describe our ownership. They are not a promise that we hold a particular certification, such as a state small, women-owned and minority-owned (SWaM) certification, on any given date. Ask us for current certification details if you need them for a procurement.
No warranty and limits on our liability
To the fullest extent the law allows, the site and all material are provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, and we are not liable for loss or damage that results from relying on them. This includes any decision, fine, penalty, failed exam, lost licence, lost work or loss of money. Our Terms of Use set out these limits in full, together with a limit on the total amount we can be asked to pay. Nothing on this page limits any right or liability that the law does not allow us to limit.
