Cookies and data collection

This page lists exactly what the site stores in your browser and what other data it handles. We use only the cookies and browser storage the site needs to work. We do not use advertising cookies, social media tracking pixels, or analytics services that follow you around the web, so there is no cookie banner to accept.

Cookies set by this site

• try_sess (session cookie): protects forms against forged requests and carries short messages such as "Thank you, we have your message". It also remembers a cart if the shop is ever switched back on. It is deleted when you close your browser.
• try_auth (sign-in cookie): keeps you signed in. It is created only after you sign in, lasts up to 60 days, and is deleted when you sign out. It is marked secure and HTTP-only so page scripts cannot read it.

Browser storage

• try_theme (local storage): remembers whether you chose the light or dark display. It never leaves your browser.

Third-party services

• Fonts: this site uses the typefaces already on your device and loads no fonts from other companies.
• YouTube (privacy-enhanced mode) or Vimeo: loaded only on a webinar page that contains a video from them, and only when that page opens. They may set their own cookies or collect usage data under their own policies.
• Stripe: when you pay you are sent to Stripe's secure page. Stripe may set cookies there to prevent fraud and to complete the payment.

Counting visits without cookies

We count how many times each page is opened per day and which website sent the visitor (for example google.com), so we can see which pages help people. This uses no cookies, no browser storage, no fingerprinting and no IP address. Bots and our own administrators are not counted. The totals cannot be traced to you.

TRY Academy

TRY Academy at /academy/ is a separate application. Its own Cookies and storage page lists what it sets: a sign-in cookie, a security token for forms, and browser storage that holds your theme and learning progress on your own device. It uses no advertising or tracking cookies either.

Other data the site handles

• Account, purchase and enquiry data, described in our Privacy Policy.
• Rate-limit records: your IP address with a timestamp, used to block repeated sign-in or form attempts, deleted within an hour.
• Server logs kept by our hosting provider, which normally include IP address, date, page requested and browser type, for security and troubleshooting.
• Contact forms contain a hidden field to catch automated spam. It is not used to identify people.
• The course app saves your study progress and practice results in your browser's local storage on your own device. They are not sent to us, and clearing your browser data removes them.

What we do not do

• We do not sell or rent personal information.
• We do not build advertising profiles or use tracking pixels.
• We do not record your screen or keystrokes.
• We do not collect precise location, camera or microphone data.

Your controls

You can delete or block cookies in your browser settings. If you block the two cookies above, sign-in and forms will not work, but the rest of the site will. Many browsers also offer a "Global Privacy Control" or "Do Not Track" setting. We do not track you across other sites and honour these settings by default, so there is nothing further to switch off here. To see, correct or delete data we hold about you, use the steps in our Privacy Policy.

Changes

If we add a new cookie or analytics tool, we will update this page first and, where the law requires it, ask for your consent before using it.
